Events Matter for Climate Influence
Getting more intentional with events will open wide the doors of engagement, impact and joy.
In this audio post, I enthuse and nudge for businesses to get much more intentional and creative about their involvement in sessions, their own events or the ways they sponsor events - in order to be seen truly leading and aligning with climate-focused values. Bottom-line: there is massive room for new levels of creativity and your future talent, customers and collaborators are dying to see your climate and sustainability values reflected.
In this 12-minute comment:
- I enthuse about the power of adding sustainability and climate into tech events, with the example of the Wo(men) in Tech Regatta. (See their LinkedIn page for a palpable reflection on the excitement and joy of participants.) I oversaw the inaugural sessions that brought climate into this established week-long conference in Seattle to a great response.
- Bloomberg Green Fest is coming to my fair city of Seattle, this July! I’ve been named a Bloomberg Green Champion, but even if I hadn’t I’d be celebrating this news. I love the idea of getting more of my climate-focused business friends to this city I love. Please let me know if you plan to be here so we can say hello.
- Here’s your call: don’t do an event or sponsor one if you aren’t willing to be more creative and intentional. There are all sorts of talented people you could hire to do something fresh and real, to spur new thinking and engage a broader community with your climate acting values. Don’t waste these moments. They are a storytelling/messaging resource that must be used wisely. #LaterIsTooLate

Finally - whether it’s a live podcast recording, posting on my social media channels, recording daily updates here during the event, or helping environmental journalist friends find a fun way to gather together around it, I’m going to be very visible and enthused. You can count on it. :-)
