Setting the Stage for Climate Influence in Events, Conferences and Festivals
You Can Set The Storyline!
I’ve been having lots of conversations about events, conferences, summits and festivals lately, and I see massive untapped Climate Influence potential (as I am known to do…)
In this (12 min) audio post, I share insights and high-level suggestions on:
- Food service/catering. Think smarter about veering plant-based with your options.
- Transportation options. Lead with bike, walk and transit accessible, and promote car parking last.
- Sustainable production expertise. On-the-local-ground experts, like those who do this for the film, TV, or music industries, are the gold.
- Media coverage. Think a bit further in advance about your storyline to warm the ground.
These are all areas I provide high-level advising on and have great networks and media contacts around, so reach out to me if you are ready to get more intentional about your next event’s climate influence storyline.
Now’s the time to be seen leading to influence your peers. This starts with YOU being more bold.

- Food@COP is a movement led by a collection of young people from across the globe who believe that climate change negotiations must take place over climate-friendly meals.
- Potential Energy Coalition, which partnered with Yale Climate Communications. on research about the climate message that reaches the most people. #LaterIsTooLate is it. So, how does YOUR event fit under that umbrella?
- Super interesting Apolitical webinar on climate communications (for use in thinking/messaging for events and conferences, or more broadly).
- My LinkedIn post on how corporate leaders could take a cue from Ed Begley Jr’s routine of *being seen* walking, biking and taking transit. The opportunities for more people with influence to nudge the social norms of leadership in a climate-acting direction are significant. I’ll just keep saying… #ISpyClimateInfluence
